Jules Verne has been known to be called the father of Science Fiction. His stories set a new bar for fiction writers everywhere with their level of detail and imagination. It is no wonder that today they are still widely celebrated classics. I created a full book design for one of his top works, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I wanted to keep the design clean for a classic look while still adding a sense of fun and adventure to it. I used simple graphics to achieve this look while using the title as the hero of the design.
For the interior design, I used a serif font to keep with the traditional/classic look. The artwork used within the design was the same artwork produced by Alphonse de Neuville and Edouard Riou for the original publication of the novel in 1870.
